Its main center is the city of Ivrea, considered already in ancient times a strategic crossroads. The city of Celtic origin has also become Roman colony with the name of Eporedia.
The most important tourist attraction of the area is certainly the Morenico Amphitheater surrounding Ivrea formed during the great glaciations. With the glacier melting, the cord of the Serra d'Ivrea, but above all the large water basins, such as the Five Lakes of Ivrea, that of Candia Canavese and Lake Viverone, took shape.
